Hudson Grande Senior Living Demonstrates Acts of Kindness During Be Kind to Humankind Week

Category: Wellness

Author: Cindi Kirchenbauer, Director of Wellness

Kindness is defined as doing something toward yourself and others, motivated by genuine desire to make a positive difference. Kindness is shown to increase self-esteem and mood, decrease stress levels, improve relationships, slow aging, and is accompanied by emotional warmth. Research shows kindness and mental health are deeply connected.

We at Hudson Grande Senior Living know that one act of kindness can lead to many more. Kindness is contagious and it begins with you!

Kindness, to me, is doing something unprompted for someone with the expectation of nothing in return. Kindness can be a simple smile and hello to someone when you are walking by them. Simply doing something to brighten others’ day is kindness.

Some ways to encourage kindness and put a smile on someone’s face include a simple “hello,” “how are you,” “how can we help you,” and giving someone a compliment. When you uplift others, I feel that it is contagious.

I exhibit kindness by spending a few minutes a day talking with residents. By spending some quality time with them, it brightens their day and improves their quality of life.

Kindness is important to health and well-being. A kind, caring, and generous environment promotes both good health and general well-being.

Hudson Grande Senior Living practices kindness each day with every resident, whether they live in Assisted Living or Memory Care. Arrow Senior Living believes “Acts of Kindness can drive change in the world.” We hope kindness finds its way to and from you.
